The school will host their Sixth Form Open Event on 2 November showcasing the very best of life at BSAK
With over 280 students in Sixth Form, The British School of Al Khubairat (BSAK) offers an exceptional choice of A Levels, that include a Creative Arts Pathway, as well as vocational pathways through its three BTEC Diploma qualifications in Business, Engineering and Sport, which can be taken as a double and single award.
This offering not only caters to the diverse abilities and interests of students but also boasts the significant advantage of BTEC qualifications now being recognised by the UAE government, signifying their equivalency.
VESPA method
Steve Oakes, the Head of Sixth Form and acclaimed author of numerous educational books focused on student mindset, emphasises that the school employs a unique and tailored system to prepare students during their pivotal final years.”

“We use our own approach known as the VESPA method which includes the five big elements of education,” says Steve. “We interviewed thousands of students over a period of time and found the most important aspects to include; Vision, Effort, Systems, Practice and Attitude.”
Steve added that they interviewed all types of students to identify what overall techniques they used on their road to success.
“What we found is the successful students were very clear on their ‘why’; they knew what they wanted to do. When the work gets tough, they could just keep reminding themselves about their own vision and goals.”
Steve explained that the other elements of the VESPA approach include Effort, where students equate their academic success to hard work; Systems, organising their time and resources; Practice, students working on their weaknesses and spending uncomfortable study time operating at the edge of their ability; Attitude: understanding that failure is an important part of success and learning is composed of a series of sharp inclines, plateaus and setbacks.
Their pioneering use of the VESPA method of education is not the only aspect that has set BSAK apart. The school is also well-known for the extensive range of co-curricular activities, which include trips, sport, music, and academic enrichment, among others.
Furthermore, Sixth Form students also have the opportunity to participate in a Diploma that enables them to focus on developing areas of their strengths, interests and leadership skills, empowering students with 21st century skills that they can utilise at BSAK and beyond BSAK, as they move forward in life.
