Another day, another set of grand plans in the UAE capital for the 52nd Union Day.
Set against the scenic Al Wathba, Sheikh Zayed Festival unveiled an exciting roster of events, activities, and shows to celebrate the 52nd UAE National Day. And the long weekend makes this the perfect place to celebrate.
From parades to breathtaking fireworks displays, drone shows and an assortment of cultural, heritage, and entertainment festivities – they’ve got it all and then some for the ultimate family day out!
From 1-3 December, the Sheikh Zayed Festival will run the activities under the theme ‘Hayakum’, and we can’t wait. Get exploring and planning for the ultimate UAE National Day.
Union Parade
Scheduled for 3 December, the Union Parade embodies a national expression of patriotism and love for the leadership among all.
Fireworks, drones, fountain shows and more
It’s just not a celebration without fireworks and drones! Apart from spectacular displays in the skies, there will also be drone displays forming wonderful artistic drawings.
Additionally, the Emirates Fountain, one of the largest water fountains in the region, will showcase spectacular shows featuring a fusion of lights, the vibrant colours of the UAE flag, music, and laser displays.
Cultural celebrations
For a dash of cultural celebrations honouring the great nation we call home, the ‘Heritage Village’ will feature unique activities designed for visitors of diverse nationalities, providing insights into authentic Emirati heritage across different environments.
The village aims to showcase various aspects of popular heritage through handicrafts, crafts, and arts, emphasising traditional arts’ connection to the present and past.
Contests
To make things more fun and exciting, get into the spirit of celebrating the UAE National Day with a competition at the Sheikh Zayed Festival.
Visitors of all ages and nationalities at the Festival will have the chance to compete for valuable prizes in the ‘Most Beautiful Emirati Heritage Costume’ competition. And there are several other competitions and draws to look forward to!
In addition to craft workshops and live drawing shows, Majalis Abu Dhabi will also host a photo exhibition portraying a distinctive journey from a glorified past. Up for grabs is AED 25,000 in the ‘Majalis Abu Dhabi Photography Award’ competition, held under the Emirati Heritage theme at the Sheikh Zayed Festival.

Honouring the 52nd UAE National Day, you can enjoy an Orchestra featuring unique musical compositions crafted for the occasion, performances by various UAE traditional bands showcasing traditional arts, and captivating roaming performances by the Abu Dhabi Police Musical Band.
The Fun Fair City is also pulling out all the stops, adding to the festive atmosphere for all ages. The Children’s City will also present workshops including diverse and varied competitions, live performances, prizes and gifts for children. Children will also experience an exciting atmosphere by competing with new games, theatrical performances, talent shows, and many other surprises!
