Full sail ahead at the Ghanadah Dhow Sailing Race

Covering 25 nautical miles, the race kicks off from Saadiyat Island and will finish at Abu Dhabi Corniche.

Organised by Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, the Ghanadah Dhow Sailing Race 60ft is all set to kick off on 4 March!

Under the patronage of Hamdan bin Zayed, the race will gather more than 100 sailing dhows to contest an AED 4 million prize pool. With registrations closing on 2 March, the Organising Committee has started all technical, administrative and logistical arrangements, receiving participation requests and more!

 

 

The race which will start from Saadiyat Island and finish at Abu Dhabi Corniche is the second round of this category of races. The first round, named the Sheikh Zayed Festival Dhow Sailing Race 60ft, has already been held and featured over 2000 sailors from across the UAE.

The Dhow Al Shaqi, owned by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, won the 25-nautical-mile race.

Majid Ateeq Al Muhairi, Director of the Racing Department, Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, has praised the UAE leadership’s support for all heritage activities and events, thanking His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his generous support of the race.
