The Al Dhafra Grand Kingfish Championship is returning to Abu Dhabi towards the end of this month. Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD), the event will take place from 22-24 April 2023 at Al Mughira Beach.

The championship will feature 779 participants competing for 20 awards, split equally between men and women, with a total of AED920,000 in prize money. For years now, the event has aimed to promote fishing as a traditional sport while preserving the UAE’s cultural heritage.
