The third Abu Dhabi Manuscript Conference is all set to take place this December at Manarat Al Saadiyat.

How much do you know of the Arab civilisation’s impact on the larger global culture?

The Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi is pleased to announce the third edition of the Abu Dhabi Manuscripts Conference. Scheduled for 7-8 December, the event has been created in coordination with the National Marciana Library of the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage, the University Library of Bologna, the National Library of Spain, and the Royal Library of San Lorenzo de El Escorial.

Taking place at Manarat Al Saadiyat, visitors will spot several esteemed Arabic manuscript experts from across the Arab World in attendance. Through the conference, they aim to  highlight Abu Dhabi’s role in preserving and promoting Arab culture and heritage.

The conference will feature scholars, specialists, and experts in the field of Arabic manuscripts from Italy, Spain as well as various parts of the Arab world. The specially curated sessions will dissect and bring to the fore Arab civilisational achievements. In addition to the same, one can also learn of their impact on European culture in fields such as linguistics, calligraphy, poetry, music, literature, and science.

While information about one’s heritage is definitely important, the sessions will also discuss the importance of studying, translating and preserving Arabic manuscripts to enhance knowledge exchange between East and West countries.

As part of Abu Dhabi’s efforts to preserve and disseminate Arab heritage, the emirate will continue to present such interesting conferences over the coming months.
