New category added to The Abu Dhabi Young Musician 2022

Entries close on 15 November.

Young musicians all over Abu Dhabi will be banging their drums to the beat of this news.

The Abu Dhabi Young Musician 2022 has added the drum kit as a new class to the competition which is searching the emirate for the best youth maestros.

Joining seven other categories of piano; classical/acoustic guitar; brass; strings; woodwind; singing; and rock ‘n’ pop (singers and guitarists only); drummers will be given the chance to demonstrate their percussion skills in front of a live audience.

Organised by British School Al Khubairat (BSAK) with support from schools across the city, the competition promotes student engagement in music with participants enjoying the opportunity to showcase their musical abilities at the week-long Festival of Music taking place from Sunday 6 February 2022 to Thursday 10 February 2022.

Open to musicians of school age that are enrolled in full-time education within Abu Dhabi, the competition is divided into two grade ranges; intermediate for performers at Grade 5-6 level and advanced for musicians at Grade 7 level and over.

The week will also provide continuing professional development for music teachers as the panel of international judges will offer training in one-to-one instrumental teaching, providing co-curricular ensembles as well as best practices in the music classroom.

Entries and payment for The Abu Dhabi Young Musician 2022 must be submitted by 15 November with the first day of the competition beginning on 6 February 2022.
