The British School Al Khubairat smashes GCSE records with top marks

BSAK students set a new bar with outstanding GCSE results, including a five per cent rise in top grades

The British School Al Khubairat (BSAK) is celebrating a stellar performance in the 2024 GCSE exams, with 23 per cent  of all grades hitting the top mark of grade 9 and 38 per cent coming in at grades 9-8.

That’s a lot of smiling students and proud parents!

Out of the 1,194 exams taken, a whopping 455 resulted in either grade 8 or 9 – a 5 per cent increase in grade 9s from last year.

Headmaster Mark Leppard MBE couldn’t be happier, saying, “These results are remarkable, and we are delighted for our hard-working and dedicated students.

“What is so pleasing is also how many of them are getting onto the A Level and BTEC courses that they have chosen for Sixth Form.

“Their efforts have clearly been rewarded, and we are excited to welcome them into what is now going to be BSAK’s largest ever Sixth Form.

In particular, we are delighted to have a value added of over 1.1 grade per average result.”

Some students truly outdid themselves, with several achieving at least nine grade 9s.

Among them were Zaid Al-Nasseri, who scored nine grade 9s and one grade 8, and is now set to study Maths, Further Maths, Physics, and Chemistry at A Level with dreams of pursuing medicine.

Mohamed Khalifa matched this with nine grade 9s and two grade 8s, also aiming for A Levels in Maths, Further Maths, Physics, and Chemistry.

Twins Zain and Omar Tashamneh both secured nine grade 9s and one grade 8 each. They’re pumped to start their A Levels at BSAK, with Zain eyeing law and Omar aiming for engineering at university.

BSAK is on a roll, and this year’s results are just another feather in their cap.

With 96 per cent of grades at 4 or above and a 90 per cent pass rate for students achieving five A*-C grades including English and Maths, the future looks bright for these students as they move into what will be the school’s largest Sixth Form ever.
