Over 1,000 students prepare to compete in ‘Yas in Schools’ initiative

Yas in Schools launches Ethara Go, a new programme for students to create their own raceable car at home

It’s all go, go, go for a large number of UAE schools this week as over 1,000 students prepare to compete in the Ethara Go initiative aimed at stirring up creativity in a very innovative way!

Yas Marina Circuit is preparing to welcome students for what promises to be intense competitions as they showcase their months of hard work across four categories: F1 in Schools, Formula Ethara, Ethara Go, and 4 x 4 in Schools.

Focused on a 360-degree approach to learning, students are offered the opportunity to build racing teams from the ground up, demonstrating a multifaceted understanding of building a brand.

From product engineers to marketing executives, more than 300 teams based in the UAE will head to Abu Dhabi to showcase their academic ingenuity and creativity.

Tasked with developing their team’s brand, obtaining funding and sponsorships, and creating their own model Formula 1 car, their objective is not only to create the fastest car but also to establish a functional, sustainable brand that mirrors the efforts of professional F1 teams.

Following a rigorous qualifying session, a record number of students were selected to participate in the 2024 Yas in Schools National Finals presented by ADNOC.

Kicking off on 20 June, students competing in the F1 in Schools National Finals will contend for a spot at the F1 in Schools World Finals.

Catered to students aged 13 and below, the newest ADNOC Yas in Schools’ programme, Ethara Go, was launched earlier this year as an entry-level version of the STEM-based category, Formula Ethara.

Aimed at encouraging young students to fuel their curiosity outside the classroom, Ethara Go participants can build and design their own mini car and team with tools at home for a chance to compete in the finals on 22 and 23 June.

Building on a week of celebrating excellence for the first time students have been challenged to create AI show cars, which will be showcased during the National Finals.

Created to inspire innovation and creativity within the field of STEM, ADNOC Yas in Schools is celebrating its 15th year and has hosted over one million hours of student learning since its inception.

The programme provides a platform for students to build and foster skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics while building their own motorsport brand.
