UAE authorities aim to qualify Emiratis to work in the private education sector

Schools in Abu Dhabi and the rest of the UAE are about to get a boost as a major new initiative aims to qualify Emiratis so they can work in the UAE’s private education sector.

According to the ARN online news site, the Teaching Specialists Programme will support the recruitment of 1,000 UAE nationals annually, starting in 2024, which is set to continue over the course of four years to reach 4,000 Emiratis.

Launched by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, the Ministry of Education and the Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council (Nafis), the programme will equip UAE citizens with the knowledge and skills to work in administrative and teaching positions across the UAE.

The administrative roles and teaching posts will be in Arabic language, Islamic studies, social studies and national identity, in addition to kindergarten, primary school and special education, and specialists of educational guidance and leadership positions.

Emirati jobseekers in the field of education will need to be registered on the Nafis platform, hold a bachelor’s degree in education, for teaching and school-related professions, as well as those with a high school degree, for administrative and assistant roles.

For those interested in taking part, you can register on the Nafis platform.

The initiative is expected to play a crucial role in supporting private educational institutions in achieving their annual Emiratisation targets.

The Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council (Nafis) has signed agreements with the Higher Colleges of Technology, United Arab Emirates University, University of Sharjah, Sharjah Education Academy, and Emirates College for Advanced Education, to support the programme.

These institutions will help design and implement targeted training programmes based on the specific needs of the sector.
