The British International School Abu Dhabi spotlights student voices with a powerful wellbeing exhibition during Mental Health Awareness Month
Mental Health Awareness Month took centre stage at The British International School Abu Dhabi (BIS Abu Dhabi) this May, as students hosted an inspiring Mental Health and Wellbeing Exhibition that sparked conversations, broke stigma, and showcased the power of peer support.
Far from a routine school event, this student-led initiative provided a heartfelt platform for pupils to speak openly about topics that matter—from anxiety and autism to bullying, friendship, self-esteem, screen time, and social media.
Many shared personal stories with refreshing honesty and courage, prompting reflection and empathy across the school community.
At the heart of the exhibition were the school’s Mental Health Champions, who played a key role in supporting and educating their peers.
Their leadership and authenticity underscored the importance of student voice and peer-to-peer learning in wellbeing.
Younger students also participated in the event, and the message was clear: mental health matters at every age, and creating safe, supportive spaces to talk about it is a lesson worth learning.
