The Department of Culture and Tourism along with MAKTABA have announced that libraries in Abu Dhabi will now be open to the public all day long including weekends and holidays.
Services on offer include use of study spaces, access to computers with complimentary WIFI and the exchange of books through self-lending machines.
DCT have said that the new developments have been added to respond to the requests of residents who want to use the facilities and services outside normal working hours and give them the opportunity to conduct scientific study in a calm environment.
Over 125,000 people availed of the public library services from January to September, which is a testament to the fact that people rely on and still use these vital and sometimes underestimated services.
