Brick Rooftop Kitchen & Bar is back

Upgrade your Thursday with a new brunch.

There is only one thing that can rival the excitement and anticipation of the opening of a new restaurant and that is the relaunching of one of our favourites haunts for a post-work hang.

Perched on the 12th floor of the Aloft Hotel, Brick Rooftop Kitchen & Bar has re-emerged from its summer sleep and Team Yalla was there on Thursday to check out a refreshed venue and a new evening brunch offering.

Stepping out of the lift, we are immediately hit with some gorgeous vistas of the Embassies District. Tonight is particularly eye-catching as a number of buildings in the vicinity are lit up in bottle green to celebrate Saudi Arabia National Day.

Making our way through the restaurant, guests are greeted with what would be known as the lounge area at most venues, where you can pull up a high stool and sip on a mixed drink while kicking back with your mates after a long day at the blast furnace.

Moving along, we pass the open kitchen where chefs are already teasing our senses with a variety of plates just waiting to devoured. We take our seats against the backdrop of gentle sounds of the musician and even though the venue throws up stunning views in every direction, our top tip is to get yourself a place on the left-hand side (you can thank us later Instahuns).

But ultimately, we are here to eat and eat we did as the plates and portions just kept coming and coming.

We kick off the feast with some sourdough bread and top-notch roasted spicy Cajun chicken wings, crab cakes and eggplant rolltinis which are lightly breaded and filled to the brim with ricotta cheese – truly sumptuous (and this is coming from carnivores).

Next up are the mains and the only issue is that our table is too small to accommodate the amount food that is being dished out. We’re talking succulent lamb ribs, Cedar plank Norwegian salmon and arguably some of the best oven-cooked legs of chicken you can wrap your chops around in Abu Dhabi. Pizza is also on the food card and the chicken tandoori is a flavourful explosion that will satisfy your tastebuds if they haven’t been already.

Fit to burst, it would be advisable for us to say no to dessert but our sweet teeth are shaking so we sample the drool-inducing fudge-brownie and chocolate covered s’mores (marshmallows).

The brunch comes to an end and we can barely move so we just sit back and drink in the beautiful scenery and twinkling buildings. It’s safe to say, we can’t wait to return.
