Sam Green: The Arts Center at NYU Abu Dhabi reopens to the public

It will be the first live screening since 2020 at The Arts Center at NYU Abu Dhabi.

The Arts Center at NYU Abu Dhabi will reopen this Wednesday (9 March) with the screening of Sam Green’s film, 32 Sounds.

Hitting the big screen at The Red Theater on 9 and 10 March, the immersive documentary and sensory experience explores the phenomenon of sound.

The film which was selected to open the Sundance Film Festival and SXSW Film Festival, will be screened in ‘live cinema’ form featuring on stage narration by Sam Green and original live music by JD Samson.

Speaking on the event, Executive Artistic Director at The Arts Center at NYUAD, Bill Bragin, said: “Sam Green creates beautifully shot film documentaries that are innovative and accessible, revealing his curiosity, thoughtfulness, quirky humor and open heartedness.

“I often joke that my favorite pieces are the ones that require multiple hyphens to explain them – or as our mission statement says, ‘that defy definition’ – so I’m thrilled that his fundamentally hybrid, definition-defying piece will welcome audiences back into The Red Theater.”

Sam Green said; “I am thrilled to be returning to NYU Abu Dhabi. I screened a previous live cinema work, A Thousand Thoughts, with the Kronos Quartet at the performing arts center in 2019, and it was one of the most magical screenings we have ever had together.

“Plus it’s a huge honor to work with Bill Bragin again, who is a towering figure in the field of performing arts. I’m excited to be back.”
