DMT has introduced the new system to promote easier beach accessibility to wheelchair users in Abu Dhabi
With the recent welcomed announcement that many of Abu Dhabi beaches will be providing free WIFI to the public, Department of Municipalities and Transport has followed this up with more exciting news as it is opening up a number of its beaches for easier access for wheelchair users.
These remote-controlled operated ramps will be available at many of the capital’s hotspots and allow wheelchair users the opportunity to bask in the glory of the sunshine and the azure Indian ocean like everyone else.
Implementing another innovation that propels the city towards a greener sustainable future, the technology used is solar powered which makes sense in a climate which benefits from sunshine all year around.

Wheelchair users can use the new ramps to lower themselves into the water for a period of time before being able to lift themselves back into the chair with minimum fuss.
The Seatrac system will be launched at Corniche Public Beach, Corniche Family Beach, Corniche Sahil Beach, Al Bateen Public Beach and Al Bateen Ladies’ Beach.
The forward-thinking initiative supports the UAE government’s overall objective to foster and promote a more inclusive society for people with any form of disability.
