UPDATED: Parking timings in Abu Dhabi for Ramadan

There are changes in timings for paid parking hours and toll gates in the UAE capital during the Holy Month of Ramadan

Ramadan is finally here, and the crowded streets are evidence of Abu Dhabi getting in sync with the new routines. From reduced working hours to changes in parking timings, there is a lot going on.

And now, there’s an update! According to the Integrated Transport Centre of the Department of Municipalities and Transport in Abu Dhabi, MAWAQiF parking fees will be applied from Monday to Saturday, from 8am to 12am. As usual, no parking charges are applicable on Sundays.

As for the Darb toll gate system ‘peak hours’, it will now be from 8am to 10am, and then from 2pm to 4pm. The charges will be applied from Monday to Saturday, and will be free of charge on Sundays.

Most important to note are perhaps the timings for public bus services.

In the city of Abu Dhabi, it will begin at 5am and will run until 1am. For Abu Dhabi’s suburbs, the services will start operating from 6am until 10pm. In Al Ain, the public bus services will operate from 7am until 2am. For the suburbs, the services will be provided from 6am until 11pm, while some services will operate until 12am.

People should also expect a slight change in the frequency of some of the services provided across Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. The public bus service at Al Dhafrah will operate at its current service hours with minimal changes, and not be operational during Iftar time.

The Abu Dhabi Police also revised timings for heavy vehicles and trucks, not permitting them on Abu Dhabi and Al Ain routes from 8am to 10am. Buses transporting 50 worker passengers or more will not be permitted on Abu Dhabi roads from 8am to 10am. In the afternoon, trucks won’t be allowed on Abu Dhabi and Al Ain city roads from 2pm to 4pm.
