Special book reading sessions are organised as part of the UAE’s Month of Reading
You don’t have to spend more than 10 minutes a day to reap the benefits of reading.
Miral, Abu Dhabi’s leading creator of immersive destinations and experiences, and Al Alami book club have launched a series of activities on Saadiyat Island that aim to further enrich the reading experience of booklovers in Abu Dhabi.
Al Alami is a new book club founded in Abu Dhabi in 2020 by a dynamic duo who share a passion for reading. The club seeks to enrich people’s love for reading and books, and it claims anyone can do it by simply reading for 10 minutes a day.
Organised as part of the UAE’s Month of Reading with the theme, “UAE Reads”, the partnership is in line with the Ministry of Culture and Youth’s aim to foster a culture of reading and to ensure the development of knowledge in the private and public sectors. It is the first of many partnerships promoting books and reading, according to Miral.
The UAE-based Al Alami book club has already attracted over 800 members from around the world who regularly take part in online book discussions. With the new free-to-attend sessions on Saadiyat Island, which began with an introductory discussion with its founders, cousins Farah and Deema Alami, UAE residents are now able to physically attend the discussions.

The sessions are on a first-come, first-served basis and are held every six to eight weeks. The next sessions are scheduled on 12 March (Monday) from 7pm to 8:30pm, 2 May (Tuesday) from 7pm to 8:30pm, 13 June (Tuesday) from 7pm to 8:30pm, 2 September (Tuesday) from 7pm to 8:30pm, and 14 November (Tuesday) from 7pm to 8:30pm.
