Goldy Notay speaks to Team Yalla about their production, coming to Abu Dhabi and one wild desert experience

British actress Goldy Notay, celebrated for her roles in It’s a Wonderful Afterlife and Beecham House, is bringing her talents to Abu Dhabi in the stunning stage adaptation of Life of Pi this weekend.

Known for its visual grandeur and poignant storytelling, the show follows Pi’s incredible journey across the ocean with only a Bengal tiger for company.

Ahead of her performance, Goldy, who will shortly do a world tour of the Mahabharata, opened up about her experience in Abu Dhabi, her excitement for the show, and a recent desert adventure with her castmates.

“I honestly can’t wait to experience more of the culture and meet the locals,” Goldy says with a big smile. “There’s something so special about performing in a new place, especially somewhere as vibrant as Abu Dhabi.

“The audience’s reaction really completes the performance, and I’m beyond excited to see how people here will respond to the story and its themes.”

One unforgettable Abu Dhabi experience for Goldy has been a thrilling desert adventure. “A few of us went sand bashing; it was exhilarating as I didn’t know what to expect!” she laughs.

“The way we tore across the dunes, it was like nothing I’d ever done before. It’s amazing to be part of such an immersive experience here, both on and off stage.”

Goldy is also inspired by the play’s innovative puppetry. “The puppetry in Life of Pi is phenomenal. The animals aren’t just characters; they become symbols and emotional companions on Pi’s journey. Watching them come to life each night is something truly magical.”

Reflecting on the story, Goldy notes, “Life of Pi is all about a quest for meaning. Pi is thrust into the unknown, wrestling with survival and faith. It’s a journey we all relate to, as we each have our own quests to understand life.”

As Goldy and her cast bring Life of Pi to Abu Dhabi, she looks forward to crafting an unforgettable experience, connecting cultures, and sparking reflection on the universal search for life’s meaning.
