Emirates ID in 24 hours? Here’s how that’s possible in the UAE

The new service titled Fawri is available for all age groups for UAE nationals and GCC nationals officially residing in UAE, and expats looking to replace their cards.

UAE and GCC nationals can now get their Emirates ID in just one day!

Called Fawri (speedy in Arabic), the new service is offered by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP). If you’re residing in the country, the same can be used for first-time registrations, renewal of expired cards, or lost cards.

But if you’re an expat resident, the 24-hour service is only valid for the renewal of expired, lost or damaged cards, you can. According to the website, this is because the issuance of identity cards needs to be linked to proof of residency.

Given that all UAE citizens and residents in the UAE are legally required to have the Emirates ID on their person at all times, the new Fawri service will prove extremely beneficial in emergencies.

To avail of the Fawri service, residents can visit any of the Customer Happiness Centres listed below without prior notice and present the required documents.

The Fawri service is available at the following ICP Customers Happiness Centres:

  • Al Jazeera and Khalifa City in Abu Dhabi
  • Al Barsha, Al Rashidiya and Karama in Dubai
  • Madinat Zayed in the Western Region
  • Al Ain Centre
  • Sharjah Centre
  • Ajman Centre
  • Fujairah Centre
  • Ras Al Khaimah Centre
  • Umm Al Quwain Centre

They will need to pay the regular stated fees plus an ‘urgent service’ fee to obtain their Emirates ID within 24 hours. According to the ICP website, expat residents will pay AED 100 per year, AED 50 as a service fee, AED 30 as a typing centre fee and an extra AED 150 for the urgent service.
