Travel restrictions were lifted on 8 September between the two countries.
Passengers can once again travel directly between Abu Dhabi and the Holy City of Medina in Saudi Arabia it has been revealed.
The news announced by Etihad Airways will see three flights a week operating from the capital of the UAE to The Enlightened City starting from 27 November.
The route was suspended back in 2020 as a result of Covid-19 restrictions.
Speaking on the announcement Fatma Al Mehairi, Vice President of Sales UAE at Etihad Airways said the route will support the growing demand for religious travel between the two countries.
She said: “We look forward to reconnecting Abu Dhabi with Medina, a city of enormous historic and religious significance for Muslims around the world.
“Our flights will support the growing demand for religious travel and strengthen the existing air links between the UAE and Saudi Arabia, a key travel market for Etihad Airways.”
The move to reinstate the route brings Etihad Airway’s operating flights to The Kingdom up to four destinations with Dammam, Jeddah and Riyadh also being serviced.
Travel between the two countries resumed on 8 September after Saudi Arabia lifted restrictions on movement to the UAE.
The ban was imposed on 3 July after the UAE recorded cases of the highly contagious delta variant of Covid-19.
