The Abrahamic Family House on Saadiyat Island to open 1 March

Last updated:

Inaugurated this Thursday, the house of worship is one of three in the interfaith compound on Saadiyat Island.

The UAE has always been a melting pot of diverse cultures, with the country working towards creating a safe secular space for all to practice freely.

In keeping with the same, President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has now inaugurated the Abrahamic Family House in the capital. The news was first shared on Twitter, speaking of UAE’s proud history of people from diverse communities.

Along with a mosque, church, and synagogue, the establishment houses a cultural centre that will receive guests for worship, education, and communication. The three houses of worship are named Imam Al Tayeb Mosque, St Francis Church, and Moses ben Maimon Synagogue.

The interfaith compound is housed on Saadiyat Island, in a display of solidarity in diversity.

His Highness also added that the country remains committed to harnessing the power of mutual respect, understanding and diversity to achieve shared progress.

The vision for the Abrahamic Family House originated after the signing of the Document on Human Fraternity by Pope Francis and Grand Imam Ahmed Al-Tayeb in February 2019.

Set to open for all at the beginning of March, the landmark stands as a true reflection of the UAE’s belief in tolerance and hospitality. Within each of the houses of worship, visitors will have the opportunity to learn about religious services, listen to holy scripture, and experience sacred rituals.
