Back in Abu Dhabi for the second time, the 2022 Spartan World Championship is bigger than ever.

Hosted by Abu Dhabi Sports Council, the best obstacle course racing athletes from across the globe are back to attempt the challenging new course from 2-4 December.
What sets the championship apart are the Open Heats, which allow for all athletes to compete in the aforementioned epic races as well as energising obstacle courses!
Built on a 10 million+ strong community, the global experiential sport and wellness brand is known for creating transformational experiences, products, and content. The goal? To help people, companies, and teams tear down boundaries and notions of what is possible.
Of the 250 events across more than 40 countries on six continents, the Spartan Race is perhaps the most popularly known. The series of obstacle course races (OCR) consist of varying distances and difficulties, making it an adrenaline-packed experience.
While 2022 brings a new location and fresh course, Abu Dhabi continues to be the first host venue for a Spartan World Championship outside the United States. The stakes are upped this year, with over $125,000 in total prize money up for grabs. Set in Al Wathba, Abu Dhabi, the course features iconic desert terrain with vast sand dune trails.
There are several thrilling events lined up starting with The Age Group World Championship Beast and Open Beast on 3 December, Saturday. The following day will see the Team Relay Super, Open Super, Open Sprint, and Kids Open, allowing people to see the world’s best athletes in action in the pinnacle race of the OCR season. And then, there’s the opportunity to take on the course themselves!
Athletes in the Elite and competitive Age Group divisions can qualify through race series held in 14 countries, two regional championships, or at various wild card events throughout the year. For the same, they must reach certain qualifying standards that involve both overall place and finish within a certain time of the winner.
With Abu Dhabi slowly but surely morphing into a world-class sporting, cultural and tourism destination, the 2022 Spartan World Championship is sure to fuel an exciting winter!
