In total, there will be eight of the world’s best tennis players (two women and six men) descending on Abu Dhabi in December. The women’s clash will see US Ladies’ Open Champion Emma Raducanu face off against Olympic Gold medallist Belinda Bencic.

In the men’s competition, defending champion, Rafael Nadal and two-time Mubadala World Tennis Championship winner, Andy Murray, will be joined by Casper Ruud, Andrey Rublev, Denis Shapovalov and Dominic Thiem.

 

 

What is the order of play at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship?

 

There will be eight matches to enjoy at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship.

Day one will see the winner of the most ATP titles in 2021, Casper Ruud, take on Wimbledon semi-finalist, Denis Shapovalov before Dominic Thiem clashes with Andy Murray. The day’s play will close with the only ladies’ match of the tournament; Emma Raducanu versus Belinda Bencic.

Day two sees Spaniard Rafael Nadal and Russian Andrey Rublev make their bow as the men’s semi-finals and fifth place play-off matches take place.

The tournament reaches a crescendo on day three (18 December) with the men’s third-place play-off and the men’s final.

 

Is it the first time the Mubadala World Tennis Championship will been held in Abu Dhabi?

 

This will be 13th edition of the tennis tournament to be held in Abu Dhabi. Beginning in 2009, the Mubadala World Tennis Championship has been played out in Zayed Sports City every year with the exception of 2020 when the competition was postponed due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The International Tennis Centre at Zayed Sports City will be operating at 100 per cent capacity throughout the tournament meaning 5,000 tennis fans can attend each day.
