One of the world’s greatest tennis players is coming to Abu Dhabi

He has won 20 Grand Slams.

Tennis fans of Abu Dhabi are going to be sent into a top spin as the defending champion of the Mubadala World Tennis Championship returns to protect his crown.

Legendary, 20-time Grand Slam winner, Rafael Nadal has today (4 November) been announced as the sixth player to take part at the December tournament at the International Tennis Centre at Zayed Sports City.

With six victories at the leading tennis experience in the Arabian Gulf, the Spanish star will be making his 11th appearance in Abu Dhabi, a city where he loves to play.

He said: “Abu Dhabi is a special place for me, a place where I have been many times and where I started my seasons many times.

“Ever since I first came to Abu Dhabi, I’ve had a great response from the fans and I am sure the atmosphere is going to be special as always.”

Nadal will be joining the already revealed Dominic Thiem, Casper Ruud and Denis Shapovalov to fight it out for the first silverware of the tennis season.

In the ladies’ category US Open ladies’ champion Emma Raducanu and Olympic gold winner Belinda Bencic will look to strike the first blow of the new term.

Tickets for the three-day event are available to buy with prices starting from AED 100 for adults and AED 50 for children from Ticketmaster UAE and Virgin Megastores across the UAE.

This will be the 13th edition of the Mubadala World Tennis Championship and will host a number of family friendly activities in the Tennis Village.

To gain entry to the Mubadala World Tennis Championship, fans must present a green status on their Al Hosn app alongside a negative PCR test result with a 96-hour validity for the three days.
