Schools in the UAE will shift to distance learning one day per week throughout Ramadan

Schools across the UAE will transition to distance learning one day per week throughout the Holy Month of Ramadan.

The initiative, confirmed by the Ministry of Education, is designed to enhance family time while maintaining academic continuity for students.

The Ramadan with the Family initiative, announced on Wednesday 26 February, ensures that each Friday during Ramadan will be a designated distance learning day for public school students.

This decision aligns with the government’s efforts to promote family bonding and a balanced approach to education during the holy month.

However, students who have scheduled examinations on Fridays will be required to attend in-person sessions, as per the official guidelines.

A statement from the Ministry of Education explained the purpose of the initiative:

“The Ministry of Education launches the Ramadan with the Family initiative for public school students. Through this initiative, Friday of each week during the month of Ramadan will be designated as a day for distance learning, except for students with pre-approved Friday exam schedules.”

As part of the program, the Ministry has released an official guide outlining various student activities to be completed at home in collaboration with parents.

These activities aim to foster a supportive learning environment that reflects the values of Ramadan, including togetherness, discipline, and reflection.

The initiative also ensures that students can manage their academic responsibilities while balancing the spiritual and social aspects of Ramadan.

By reducing in-person attendance, students will have more flexibility to observe fasting, engage in religious practices, and spend quality time with their families.

By implementing distance learning and flexible work policies, the UAE continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting families, students, and employees during Ramadan.
