All you need to know about the 15th Abu Dhabi Art exhibition

With 92 galleries from 31 countries participating, get your artistic side out and ready to explore!

It’s already time for the 15th edition of Abu Dhabi Art, and we can’t stay calm!

Come November, Manarat Al Saadiyat will witness some amazing art exhibitions with the 15th Abu Dhabi Art returning.

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, the Department of Culture and Tourism, the UAE capital will see the festival run from 22-26 November.

The upcoming exhibition is slated to be the largest yet, featuring 92 galleries from over 31 countries. The art fair is a culmination of Abu Dhabi Art’s year-long visual arts programme and plays a vital role in the burgeoning art scene of the WANASA region. With 37 new and 55 returning galleries, this year spotlights diverse geographies alongside curated exhibitions and commissions, positioning itself as a place of discovery for global art histories.

Mohamed Ahmed Ibrahim appointed Visual Campaign Artist for 2023

This year, the exhibition chose Emirati artist Mohammed Ahmed Ibrahim, who represented the UAE in the 59th international art exhibition at the Venice Biennale in 2022, as an artist for the exhibition’s visual campaign.

H.E. Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, says, “Year after year, Abu Dhabi Art plays an important role in highlighting the importance that art plays in enriching life, and in social revival, by engaging with different cultures and understanding diverse civilisations. This year’s edition of Abu Dhabi Art Fair reflects Abu Dhabi’s ambitious vision to be a destination for culture, and a place for a creative movement.

The 92 participating galleries represent countries from around the globe – including, for the first time, galleries from Georgia, Mexico, Brazil, Singapore, and Chile.

Dyala Nusseibeh, Director of Abu Dhabi Art, says, “This year’s Abu Dhabi Art represents a significant moment in the fair’s history due to its sheer size, with double the number of galleries participating since its early days. We are delighted to be able to attract such a diverse range of artists and galleries from around the world, in part thanks to the important contribution and research of our global gallery representatives.”

“The presence of so many new galleries at the Fair signifies how dynamic the local and regional art market has become over the last 15 years. By working closely with curators, gallery representatives, galleries and artists, we are also ensuring that our gallery presentations offer unparalleled access to art histories and research, ensuring visitors have the opportunity to better understand these wide-ranging global positions,” she adds.

The platform will once again feature artists, curators, and exhibitors from around the world for an inspired dialogue, contributing to further enriching the art scene in Abu Dhabi.

Last time around the participation was the largest and most diverse in its history. With 80 galleries from 28 countries showcasing more than 900 artworks by 300 artists from around the globe, it was a major event in more ways than one.
