From Stranger Things’ Henry to LOTR’s Gollum, your favourite characters are heading to Abu Dhabi very soon.
Now in its 11th year, the region’s largest pop culture festival is a little over two weeks away! From comics and anime to gaming or anything pop-culture related, there’s a lot for Abu Dhabi to look forward to at the upcoming Middle East Film and Comic Con (MEFCC).
Add to that a stellar line-up featuring some of the most trending artists and legendary actors, and you have fans screaming for tickets and more time. On from 3-5 March at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), you can catch some of the biggest names at MEFCC, interact with them, and even get some autographs or photos!
Now in its 11th year, the MEFCC will be bringing some of the biggest names in film and television to Abu Dhabi in 2023.
Remember the sweet-voiced Belle from Beauty and the Beast? Well, you can catch Paige O’Gara, the actor who brought her to life at MEFCC! In addition to her, there are also other bigwigs such as Zach Aguilar (known for voicing Tanjiro Kamado or Demon Slayer and Aether of Genshin Impact), Ken Lashley, the comic book artist behind many DC and Marvel popular titles, Ryan Ottley, the comic book artist behind Marvel titles such as The Amazing Spider-Man and Hulk and so many more!
And then of course, come the headliners we can’t wait to get a glimpse of very soon!
Jamie Campbell Bower
Remember the creepy crawling feeling you got every time Henry or his monstrous version showed up in Stranger Things? Well, the Vecna phenomenon or Jamie Campbell Bower as he’s actually known is going to be right there at this year’s MEFCC.
That aside, you might also remember him as one of The Volturi from the Twilight Saga, or his numerous other roles in major fantasy films and TV series like The Mortal Instruments and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald to say the least.
Andy Serkis
My precious, it’s time to hide your rings and welcome Gollum or Andy Serkis, best known for his work in the legendary LOTR franchise.
The BAFTA-winning actor has also played Caeser in the Planet of the Apes series, as well as Supreme Leader Snoke in the latest Star Wars films. Get ready for a face-to-face interaction, as well as some interesting merch out there!
Anthony Daniels
While the C-3PO droid is infamous among all Star Wars fans, the man behind it is no less a star. Anthony Daniels remains the only actor who appeared in all nine films, and is another big part of the MEFCC line-up this year!
May Calamawy
Can there even be a comic con anywhere in the world without an MCU representation? May Calamawy has won several hearts for her depiction of Layla El-Faouly in Moon Knight, and will now soothe several of those in the UAE capital! Also known for her work in the acclaimed TV series Ramy, don’t miss out on the opportunity to interact with the Egyptian-Palestinian actor.
