Bike Abu Dhabi’s inaugural festival promises a wheelie great time

Get ready to witness world-class cycling events including the UCI Urban Cycling World Championships.

Stock up on your cycling puns for the spoke-tacular time lined up. Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Bike Abu Dhabi Festival is all set to take place from 7-13 November.

The festival is the latest initiative under the emirate’s Bike Abu Dhabi platform. Launched in November 2021, the region continues to work towards establishing itself as a cycling hub and offering world-class cycling experiences.

As part of the festival, Abu Dhabi Sports Council brings the UCI Urban Cycling World Championships for the first time to the region. Due to be held from 9-13 November, you can expect to spot the world’s top urban cyclists.

Additionally, the first-ever Bike Abu Dhabi Gran Fondo is slated for 12 November. Starting in Abu Dhabi City and finishing in Al Ain, the track measures 150 km. For the amateur event, there’s a whopping prize pool of AED 2 million, with an equal split for both men and women.

The festival comes a year after Abu Dhabi was awarded the prestigious UCI Bike City label by the Union Cycliste Internationale in recognition of the emirate’s commitment to promoting cycling and developing cycling infrastructure and programmes across the emirate’s communities.

Competitive events aside, the Bike Abu Dhabi festival will host a variety of cycling events and activities for the community. Right from dedicated community rides for women only to an event village at Nation Towers, gear up for the best time!
